The Transformers: Megatron Origin #1 is the first issue of The Transformers: Megatron Origin series. It was written by Eric Holmes, with art by Alex Milne and was published on June 20, 2007.

Publisher's Summary[]

Part 1 of 4! Before allegiance, rank and function — before war — a civilian will become a warrior, and warrior will become a leader. As a leader he will learn of the most powerful weapon on the planet — a weapon powerful enough to bind legions to his will — a faction named Decepticon. This landmark collection brings the would-be major players of that faction together for the first time in a seminal story for Megatron, the Decepticons and the Great War; also includes a cover gallery by artist Alex Milne and variant cover artist Marcelo Matere.

Plot[]

Senator Decimus travels to Mining Outpost C-12 to announce its closure. Framing the move as a cost-cutting exercise, one miner questions the official line, claiming that the closure is due to automation. The miner is subdued and subsequently executed by an Autobot security official.

One of the miners, Megatron, throws his axe and wounds Senator Decimus. In the ensuing melee, Megatron accidentally kills the Autobot security official. Megatron's actions spark a revolt, which is quickly subdued by the remaining security forces.

Megatron awakes aboard the shuttle Longshot on route to Penal Facility H-3, colloquially known as "The Rig" with other survivors of the riot including Rumble and Frenzy. The miners stage a takeover of the Longshot, firing on Senator Decimus' ship and crippling it.

Megatron takes the Longshot to the city of Kaon to hide out. When questioned why they did not kill Senator Decimus, Megatron tells them that if they had, the security forces would be hunting them. By crippling his ship, the security forces' first priority was rescue.

In Security Services HQ in Kaon, Sentinel Prime is informed of the situation. Not wanting to deal with the matter, Sentinel assigns the case to his subordinate, Prowl.
